Principal Secretary, Department of Water Resources, Shubha Sarma, IAS, chaired a high-level review meeting with senior officers today to assess ongoing departmental activities and chart an aggressive roadmap for irrigation development in the state.
The meeting focused on optimal utilisation of allocated funds to maximise irrigation coverage across Odisha.
Principal Secy Sarma directed officials to prioritise faster clearances for pending approvals, streamline tender processes, and expedite execution of ongoing projects to ensure timely benefits to farmers.
Emphasis was laid on adopting modern technologies and systems for greater efficiency and transparency. The department resolved to strengthen data acquisition mechanisms, establish online data monitoring systems, conduct independent impact assessments of various schemes, and implement SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) technology across projects.
All senior officers actively participated in the discussions, committing to coordinated efforts to achieve these targets and bolster the state’s water infrastructure.
