The Odisha Vigilance department on Friday carried out a major raid at the residence of the Managing Director of Kalyansinghpur LAMPCS in Rayagada over allegations of corruption, disproportionate assets and financial irregularities linked to farmer welfare schemes.
The raid began around 6 am at the Jilunda residence of Tarini Tripathy, who has been serving as the MD of the cooperative society since July 2023.
The operation triggered significant attention in the locality as vigilance officials launched extensive searches and document verification.
Six-Member Team Examines Financial Records
According to sources, a six-member vigilance team conducted detailed searches at the residence and examined various financial documents.
Officials are reportedly scrutinising:
- Movable and immovable asset records
- Bank transaction details
- Expenditure statements
- Property-related documents
- Financial dealings linked to government schemes
Sources also said that Tarini Tripathy is likely to be taken to the LAMPCS office as part of the ongoing investigation.
Allegations Of Fake Bills In Farmer Welfare Schemes
Kalyansinghpur LAMPCS operates several assistance programmes and small-scale schemes for farmers in the region.
According to complaints received by vigilance authorities, the MD allegedly prepared fake bills and manipulated records to misappropriate funds meant for farmers.
Officials suspect large-scale financial irregularities in the implementation of welfare schemes under the cooperative body.
The complaints reportedly accused the official of diverting benefits intended for farmers through fraudulent transactions and fabricated expenditure records.
Corruption Complaints Had Surfaced Earlier
Sources said corruption allegations against Tarini Tripathy had been circulating for a considerable period before the vigilance probe was initiated.
Following preliminary verification and examination of complaints, the Vigilance Department launched the raid operation to investigate the alleged disproportionate assets and financial misconduct case.
The investigation is currently underway and officials are continuing document verification and evidence collection.
The vigilance operation has intensified scrutiny on cooperative institutions and the implementation of farmer welfare schemes in Odisha.
Authorities are expected to further investigate:
- Asset accumulation patterns
- Source of income
- Cooperative fund utilisation
- Transactions linked to government schemes
Further action is likely based on findings from the ongoing probe.
