In a swift anti-corruption operation, Odisha Vigilance today caught a Revenue Inspector red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 for issuing routine trace maps needed by poor farmers to avail fish farming subsidies under the state government’s ambitious Matsya Pokhari Yojana.
Sailabala Naik, Revenue Inspector of Kosaguda RI Circle under Borigumma Tahasil in Koraput district, was apprehended this afternoon after a beneficiary complained that she was demanding money to process simple land documents.
Several beneficiaries had excavated farm ponds on their land and applied for subsidy assistance under the Fisheries Department’s Matsya Pokhari Yojana. To complete their paperwork, they needed official trace maps of their ponds from the Revenue Department. Instead of providing the documents promptly, Naik allegedly demanded Rs 4,000 as a bribe.
Unwilling to pay, one beneficiary approached the Odisha Vigilance authorities. Acting on the complaint, a Vigilance team laid a trap and caught Naik accepting the bribe money this afternoon. The entire Rs 4,000 was recovered and seized from her possession on the spot.
Following the trap, Vigilance teams launched simultaneous searches at two locations linked to the accused to probe her disproportionate assets.
Koraput Vigilance Police Station has registered Case No. 10/2026 under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation is underway.
