Odisha’s Vigilance department has uncovered 199 government officials involved in corruption over the past 15 months, as the BJP-led state government intensifies efforts against graft.
According to official data, 77 cases of disproportionate assets and 122 bribery cases were registered during this period, resulting in the seizure of assets worth Rs 202 crore, deemed disproportionate to the declared income of the accused.
In a written reply to MLA Tankadhar Tripathy in the Odisha Assembly, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi revealed that 3,661 corruption cases are still under trial across various courts, while 722 cases remain under investigation from the past five years. These figures highlight the scale of pending cases even as the Vigilance department continues its operations.
The crackdown has targeted officials across all levels, ranging from clerical staff to Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) and Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, reportedly causing unease among others suspected of corrupt practices.
Clear Message Against Corruption
