In a written reply to the Odisha Assembly, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi disclosed that 199 government officials have been apprehended by the Vigilance Department over the past 15 months for corruption-related offenses.
The CM’s statement revealed:
- 122 cases were registered for bribery.
- 77 major cases were filed for possession of disproportionate assets.
- Assets worth ₹202 crore have been seized during investigations.
- Over the last five years, 3,661 corruption cases have reached the courts and are currently under trial.
The data underscores the state’s intensified crackdown on corruption within the bureaucracy. The Vigilance Department has been actively pursuing cases involving high-ranking officials and field-level staff alike, aiming to restore public trust in governance.
