Odisha Transport Minister Bibhuti Jena announced that vehicles with valid Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC) will soon carry green stickers provided by the Transport Department.
Jena explained that the initiative aims to strengthen road safety and environmental compliance. He warned that vehicles without valid pollution certificates will face strict action.
The minister said the department has already started preparations ahead of Road Safety Month. He added that fines increased in 2019 will be reviewed, and adjustments may be made after comparing with penalties in other states.
According to Jena, both new and old vehicles will receive certification, ensuring uniform compliance across the state. He emphasised that the Transport Department will supply the green stickers directly to vehicle owners.
Officials highlighted that the move will help identify vehicles meeting pollution norms and encourage others to update their certificates regularly.
