Odisha is bracing for a scorching heatwave this week, with temperatures soaring above average across several districts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued severe heatwave alerts and warned residents to prepare for hot and humid conditions.
As per IMD reports, an appreciable rise in maximum temperature by 2-3°C has been observed in North Interior Odisha, with temperatures climbing 4-5°C above normal in some areas. Heatwave conditions, including warm nights, are expected to persist in districts such as Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Bolangir until April 26.
For the next three days, IMD has issued Orange and Yellow warnings for various districts, predicting intense heat and discomfort. Coastal districts like Cuttack, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara are also likely to experience hot and humid weather.
Residents are urged to stay indoors during peak hours, drink plenty of fluids, and take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses during this time.
