Bhubaneswar: In a bid to ensure that the Covid-infected patients do not suffer for medical oxygen, the Odisha government has decided to install ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) machines at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Informing in this regard, Health Minister Naba Das on Wednesday said that the government has already decided to install six ECMO machines at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Apart from SCB, ECMO machine will also be installed at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
“The deadly infection has also led to the demand of high-end equipment for critical care in different parts of the country and Odisha as well and due to this, a lot of critically ill Covid-19 patients in Odisha are now requiring ECMO. This life-saving equipment will be procured using the CSR fund,” Das said.
“Many patients are being airlifted to other States for availing the treatment as only a few machines are available at hospitals in Odisha. And now Odisha government has floated tender to procure ECMO machines and such life-saving machines,” added.
