Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to implement the Madho Singh Hata Kharcha Yojana this year, as announced by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling in the assembly today.
During the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi yesterday, three proposals were sanctioned, including the aforementioned scheme.
According to the minister, around 3 lakh Scheduled Tribe students will benefit from the Madho Singh Hata Kharcha Yojana this year. The scheme has been allocated a budget of 156 crore rupees. Under this initiative, the state government will grant an annual incentive of Rs 5,000 to students transitioning from 8th to 9th grade and from 10th to 11th grade.
Additionally, the Cabinet has endorsed amendments to the Odisha Goods and Services Tax Act 2017 as the second proposal.
The third proposal approved by the cabinet involves the renovation of the Hirakud Dam project’s canal system. An investment of Rs 855 crore is planned between 2024-25 and 2027-28 to enhance the canal’s performance in the Hirakud irrigation region.
