The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has announced the supply of free school bags to students from Sishu Vatika to Grade III in all government schools across the state.
The initiative aims to support young learners under the School and Mass Education (S&ME) and Samagra Shiksha programmes.
In an official letter dated June 24, 2026, State Project Director Ananya Das directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Project Coordinators (DPCs) to ensure timely distribution. The Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) will supply the bags to block points for onward delivery to schools.
Two types of school bags will be distributed — Size I for students of Sishu Vatika to Class I and Size II for students of Classes II and III. Officials have been instructed to verify materials as per approved indents and report any discrepancies immediately.
OSEPA emphasised that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure and ensuring comfort for young students. The directive also highlights coordination between departments to facilitate smooth distribution across all districts.
The letter further requested DEOs and DPCs to expedite the process and maintain proper documentation. The project underscores Odisha’s focus on inclusive education and welfare measures for early learners.
