The Orissa High Court deferred the bail hearing of nine accused in the controversial Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam case. The court fixed the next hearing for February 16.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues to probe the case, which sparked widespread debate across the state after the scam surfaced last year.
In September 2025, irregularities emerged just before the written examination for SI posts conducted by the Odisha Police Recruitment Board. Authorities suspended the exam, and several candidates, along with middlemen, were arrested.
According to the CBI chargesheet, the question papers were leaked, altered, and circulated through a large racket with international links. So far, charge sheets have been filed against 16 individuals, and several companies have been blacklisted.
While some candidates have already secured bail, the key accused remain in jail. The scam has raised serious questions about the credibility of the state’s recruitment process. Thousands of aspirants’ futures remain tied to the outcome of this case.
The CBI investigation is still underway, and more details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
