Odisha Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari on Sunday conducted an on-ground assessment of the widespread damage caused by the recent Nor’wester storm in Bangiriposhi, Mayurbhanj district.
During his visit, the minister assured the affected families that they would receive full financial compensation for their losses.
Speaking to the media in Baripada, Minister Pujari confirmed that the damage report had been finalized and that compensation funds would be credited directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts by this evening. He added that residents without Aadhaar-linked bank accounts would receive compensation through direct cash transfers.
Swift Government Response:
The severe Nor’wester, which hit Mayurbhanj two days ago, caused extensive damage, especially in Bangiriposhi, Bishoi, Kuliana, Sarasakana, and Karanjia blocks. Over 400 houses across 19 panchayats were damaged, leaving many families homeless.
In response, the Odisha government deployed senior revenue officials to the affected areas for damage assessment. Over the last two days, the minister and his team visited several villages, met with affected families, and compiled a detailed damage report.
Compensation Disbursement Today:
Minister Pujari assured that the Odisha government is fully committed to providing immediate relief. With the final damage report ready, compensation payments will be processed swiftly. All eligible beneficiaries will receive their aid via online transfer by this evening.
For residents without Aadhaar-linked accounts, the government has arranged for direct cash disbursement to ensure no family is left without support.
Aftermath of the Nor’wester:
The powerful storm has left many villages devastated. Several homes were reduced to rubble, forcing families to struggle for shelter. The government’s quick response has brought some relief, as affected residents now look forward to receiving the financial assistance needed to rebuild their homes.
