Odisha Assembly’s winter session witnessed a key financial update when Minister Prithviraj Harichandan reported that the state had utilised 39 per cent of its annual budget by the end of October.
He presented the figures while responding to a question raised by senior legislator Pratap Keshari Deb.
Harichandan stated that Odisha spent Rs 1,14,518 crore from the total budget allocation, which amounts to 39 per cent of the overall plan. He emphasised that the government still has four months left in the financial year and assured that the administration will achieve 100 per cent expenditure by March.
The minister highlighted that certain departments recorded lower spending compared to others. He confirmed that the government will conduct reviews of these departments to ensure effective utilisation of funds.
Harichandan compared the current year’s progress with last year’s performance. He noted that by October of the previous year, Odisha had achieved 36 per cent expenditure, while this year the figure rose to 39 per cent. He described this increase as a sign of improved financial management and efficiency in implementing schemes.
The Assembly session continues to focus on fiscal accountability, with opposition members pressing for clarity on fund allocation and utilisation. Harichandan reiterated that the government remains committed to transparent spending and the timely execution of projects.
