A sudden and devastating firecracker explosion shook Chandpur Mahila village within the jurisdiction of the Jagatsinghpur district, claiming one life and leaving two others with severe injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Manoranjan Swain. Among the injured are his son, Soumya Sahil Swain, and their tenant, Rahul Raj Mahant, who works as a local teacher.
According to preliminary reports, the blast occurred unexpectedly, unleashing intense force that caused severe casualties. Both critically injured victims—Soumya Sahil Swain and Rahul Raj Mahant—were immediately rushed to the local health facility for primary stabilisation before being swiftly shifted to a higher medical facility in Kataka for advanced critical care.
Local authorities and police officials have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion and whether the firecrackers were being stored or manufactured illegally. The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire village, prompting renewed concerns over local safety and the unregulated handling of explosives.
