The Odisha Police Headquarters has issued an official suspension order against Inspector Madhusmita Behera, former Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Badachana Police Station in Jajpur district, citing gross misconduct and negligence in duty.
The suspension, enacted under Rule 840 of the Odisha Police Manual Rules (PMR) 1940, comes as disciplinary proceedings are being contemplated against the officer. The order, signed by the competent authority, states that the action is taken in the interest of public service.
During the suspension period, Inspector Behera will remain under the disciplinary control of the Superintendent of Police, Jajpur. She will be entitled to subsistence allowance (S.A.) and dearness allowance (D.A.) as per Rule 90 of the Odisha Service Code.
The suspension has raised questions about internal accountability and disciplinary standards within the state police force. Further details regarding the nature of the misconduct are yet to be officially disclosed.
