Odisha Police have launched an investigation into a hostile social media post regarding Lord Jagannath.
The post, allegedly made from a Pakistani account on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), has triggered strong reactions from devotees.
Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik formally complained about the post after sharing a video of the sacred ‘Patitapaban Aarti’ performed at Puri’s Jagannath Temple. Soon after, the account, identified as belonging to Shahbaz Ashraf (@Shahbaz_56), posted offensive comments, prompting police action.
Authorities have requested verification from ‘X’ to confirm the user’s location and asked for the removal of the inflammatory comments. As investigations proceed, devotees have demanded strict legal action against the account for spreading hateful content and disrespecting religious sentiments.
