Security arrangements in Puri have intensified ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit on February 3 and 4.
Deployment and Briefing
Inspector General of Police (Central Range) Dr Satyajit Naik and SP Prateek Singh conducted a detailed briefing at the Reserve Police Line ground in Puri. Authorities confirmed the deployment of 30 platoons of police force across the city. On Monday afternoon, officials carried out a full motorcade rehearsal to finalise route planning.
Security Measures
Security has been tightened at key locations, including Talabania Helipad, Lok Bhavan, Shwetaganga Pushkarini, and inside and outside the Shree Jagannath Temple. Independent security units, anti-drone teams, anti-sabotage squads, bomb disposal squads, and ODRAF teams have been deployed. Night patrolling, checkpoints, and strict vehicle checks are in place to ensure safety.
President’s Schedule
The President will arrive in Puri at 5 PM on February 3 and proceed to Lok Bhavan. On February 4, she will visit Shwetaganga Pushkarini at 7 AM for Pindadaan rituals, followed by darshan at Shree Jagannath Temple at 7:40 AM.
Traffic Arrangements
During the President’s motorcade movement, all public traffic will remain suspended along the designated route. Authorities have divided the route into zones, each supervised by senior police officers. Alternative routes have been arranged for residents, tourists, and devotees. Vehicles will be diverted from Hospital Square, as confirmed by SP Prateek Singh.
