In a vibrant celebration of heritage and connectivity, the Department of Tourism, Government of Odisha, partnered with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), inaugurated the Odisha Parab 2026 in Guwahati today.

This three-day extravaganza, running from January 30 to February 1, 2026, serves as a dynamic platform to spotlight Odisha’s rich cultural tapestry, including its traditional handicrafts, handlooms, authentic cuisine, and diverse tourism offerings. The event aims to foster stronger cultural and people-to-people bonds between Odisha and Assam, while positioning Guwahati—the gateway to India’s Northeast—as a strategic hub for inter-regional collaboration.

The inauguration ceremony drew a distinguished gathering, including. Pravati Parida, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha and Minister for Women and Child Development, Mission Shakti, and Tourism; Diganta Barah, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Tourism Department, Government of Assam; Balwant Singh, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Department of Tourism; and Deepankar Mohapatra, Director of Tourism, Government of Odisha. Attendees also included key tourism stakeholders, industry leaders, members of the Odia diaspora, and invited guests, all united in appreciating Odisha’s multifaceted appeal.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Chief Minister Parida described Odisha Parab as a flagship initiative designed to promote Odisha as an “experiential destination” that harmoniously integrates its ancient heritage, natural beauty, culinary delights, and state-of-the-art tourism infrastructure. “This is more than a festival; it’s an invitation to experience the soul of Odisha,” she emphasised, underscoring the state’s commitment to cultural outreach.

Echoing these sentiments, Shri Diganta Barah highlighted the significance of interstate partnerships in boosting tourism. He praised Odisha’s proactive approach in bringing its cultural and tourism prowess to Assam, noting the emerging synergies between the two states that could enhance regional travel and economic ties.

Organisers from Odisha’s Tourism Department reiterated that the event transcends a mere cultural showcase. Supported by the Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS), and Mission Shakti, Odisha Parab functions as a holistic engagement hub. It brings together artisans demonstrating exquisite crafts, performers showcasing traditional dances and music, culinary experts offering tastes of Odisha’s flavours, and tour operators highlighting hidden gems like pristine beaches, ancient temples, and eco-tourism spots.

By choosing Guwahati, Odisha is strategically emphasising deeper connections with Eastern and Northeastern India, promoting mutual exchanges in culture, trade, and tourism. As the event unfolds over the next two days, visitors can expect immersive experiences that celebrate unity in diversity, potentially paving the way for increased tourist footfall and collaborative ventures between the regions.

This initiative aligns with broader national goals of cultural integration and sustainable tourism development, making Odisha Parab 2026 a beacon for inter-state harmony.
