IAS officers in Odisha now need prior approval from the Chief Secretary for any kind of leave or for leaving their headquarters.

The General Administration and Public Grievance (GA&PG) Department issued this directive on February 13. This includes various types of leave such as Casual Leave (CL), Earned Leave (EL), Child Care Leave (CCL), Commuted Leave, Half Pay Leave, Maternity Leave, Paternity Leave, etc.

The directive was issued due to instances where officers had taken leave or left headquarters without prior approval, disrupting official work.
