The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, in coordination with the Election Commission of India (ECI), has announced an intensified special drive aimed at the inclusion of all new and left-out electors across the state.
The campaign reaffirms the commitment that “no eligible voter should be left out of the electoral roll.”
The special drive covers every Assembly Constituency in Odisha. A large field force has been deployed to achieve this objective, including 31 District Election Officers, 147 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), 719 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), 4,540 Booth Level Officer (BLO) Supervisors, and 45,250 Booth Level Officers (BLOs). These officials are actively working to identify and facilitate the enrolment of eligible citizens who are not yet on the rolls.
Officials stated that the proactive campaign will continue until the goal of comprehensive inclusion is met. Citizens who have any grievance related to the electoral roll or who need assistance in filing Form-6 (the application for new voter registration) can contact the 1950 helpline or visit helpdesks set up at the offices of District Election Officers (district level) or Electoral Registration Officers (Assembly Constituency level) during office hours.
The CEO’s office has also urged citizens to check their names in the final electoral roll and file claims or objections as required. Key forms available for this process include:
- Form-6: Application for inclusion of new voters. Voter enrolment is treated as a year-round exercise, allowing any eligible new or left-out person to apply at any time.
- Form-7: For raising objections to the proposed inclusion or deletion of a name in the existing electoral roll.
- Form-8: For applications related to shifting of residence, correction of entries, replacement of EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card), or marking of persons with disabilities (PwD).
The initiative underscores the Election Commission’s ongoing efforts to maintain accurate and inclusive electoral rolls ahead of future elections. Eligible citizens are encouraged to verify their status and complete the necessary formalities promptly to ensure their participation in the democratic process.
For further information or assistance, residents can reach out through the 1950 helpline or the designated district and constituency-level helpdesks.
