The Odisha government has unveiled the innovative ‘AWESOME’ app—short for Anganwadi Welfare and Services Oversight Monitoring Everywhere to digitally empower Anganwadi Centres across the state.
The launch took place at Lok Seva Bhavan Convention Centre during a skill development workshop for Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), Project Officers, and District Social Welfare Officers.
The app aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the daily operations of Anganwadi Centres, while enabling both parents and citizens to submit real-time feedback. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida emphasised the need for increased sensitivity and better use of digital tools to strengthen grassroots welfare mechanisms.

To further bolster women and child development initiatives, the state signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD). The app will maintain comprehensive data on Anganwadi infrastructure, including housing, sanitation, and electricity provisions, helping transform existing centres into fully functional empowerment hubs.
Additionally, the government announced a unique awareness campaign titled ‘Asa Buliba Anganwadi’, running from August 1 to 11. As part of the initiative, the public—including guardians and community members—will be encouraged to visit their local centres, evaluate facilities, and provide feedback via the ‘AWESOME’ app.
The launch marks a significant step toward inclusive and data-driven governance in early childhood and maternal welfare programs.
