The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), Odisha, organized a comprehensive one-day orientation programme for 102 newly appointed principals of upgraded higher secondary schools, along with Additional District Education Officers (ADEOs) from 17 districts.

Held at the Krushi Bhawan Auditorium, the event aimed to equip school leaders with the tools and insights needed to elevate academic and administrative standards.

The programme was graced by distinguished guests including Smt. Subhashree Nanda, Additional Secretary, Department of School & Mass Education; Sri Mrunalkanti Dash, Chairman, Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE); Sri Birendra Karakara, Director, Directorate of Secondary Education; Smt. Niyati Patnaik, Director, DHSE; Sri Ramesh Chandra Sethi, Additional Director, Regional Directorate; and Smt. Sasmita Mali, Joint Director, DHSE.

In her welcome address, Director Niyati Patnaik outlined the orientation’s objectives and encouraged collaborative leadership. Sri Karakara urged principals to learn from the experiences of previously upgraded institutions, while CHSE Chairman Dash emphasized the importance of quality teaching. Smt. Nanda advocated for skill-based education aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, stressing the need to make students employable and self-reliant.

The day featured technical sessions on:

  • e-Admission 2025–26 via the SAMS portal
  • Fee structures for upgraded institutions
  • Career counselling and scholarship management
  • Samagra Shiksha implementation
  • School administration and leadership
