The Odisha government has transferred Santoshini Dash, jailor of Choudwar Circle Jail, just days after two undertrial prisoners escaped from the facility.
Dash has been reassigned to Kantabanji Sub-Jail in Balangir, while Raghuraj Majhi, previously posted there, will now take charge at Choudwar.
The escape, which occurred on October 3, involved Raja Sahani and Madhukanta Kumar—both accused in a murder case in Jajpur district.
The duo reportedly cut through the cell bars and fled, prompting immediate disciplinary action. Two warders, Bhagat Ram and Siddhant Sahu, were suspended for negligence.
The incident has raised serious questions about prison security and oversight, especially given the high-profile nature of the inmates and their transfer from Jajpur Jail to Choudwar.
