In a major step towards digitising emergency healthcare access, the Odisha government has announced that ambulance services will soon be integrated with the Odisha Yatri mobile app, allowing people to book both government and private ambulances online, similar to how cabs or autos are booked.
The initiative, launched by the State Transport Department in collaboration with CRUT (Capital Region Urban Transport), aims to streamline emergency transport services and ensure quicker medical response across the state.
“People can book an ambulance, both private and government, using the Odisha Yatri app. The price tariff will be fixed by the government,” said Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena.
Key Features of the Initiative:
- Ambulance booking will be available through the Odisha Yatri app.
- Users can view, select, and book the nearest available ambulance in real time.
- Government-regulated fare structure will apply to private ambulance services.
- The onboarding process for private operators is expected to begin soon.
Once implemented, this platform will significantly reduce delays in emergency response, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. By leveraging digital infrastructure, the state hopes to bridge the gap in medical transport access and enhance public convenience during emergencies.
