Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati has called upon Odisha Revenue Service (ORS) officers to serve the public with utmost sincerity and dedication, highlighting the critical role of revenue services in governance.
Speaking at an interactive session with the 2022 batch of ORS trainee officers at the New Abhishek Hall of Raj Bhavan, the Governor stressed that revenue services are directly linked to the welfare of the common people, making it one of the most vital arms of administration.
“Administration is not confined to rules and files; it is fundamentally about serving the people,” Dr. Kambhampati remarked. He urged the young officers to remain vigilant in their duties and deliver services with commitment to foster trust and goodwill among citizens.
During the session, the Governor engaged in detailed discussions about various welfare schemes implemented by both the Central and State governments, encouraging officers to gain in-depth knowledge of these programs to guide the public effectively.
Dr. Kambhampati specifically highlighted schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), urging officers to promote awareness and participation in these initiatives. He noted that when informed citizens engage with such schemes, it strengthens public trust in governance.
The Governor also proposed the creation of a handbook on key welfare schemes to be distributed among trainees at the Revenue Officers’ Training Institute (ROTI) to enhance their understanding and outreach capabilities.
The event was attended by the Governor’s Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Smt. Roopa Roshan Sahu, who shared the dais. The interactive session underscored the importance of a people-centric approach in administration, leaving the trainee officers inspired to uphold the values of integrity and service.
