In a proactive move to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo chaired a high-level review meeting in Bhubaneswar to assess power preparedness for the upcoming summer and Kalbaisakhi (nor’wester) season.

The meeting brought together senior officials from the Energy Department and power distribution companies to evaluate readiness for peak demand and weather-related disruptions.

Focus on Reliable and Uninterrupted Supply
The Deputy Chief Minister directed all DISCOMs to ensure round-the-clock, reliable power supply across Odisha. He stressed the importance of promptly addressing consumer complaints and instructed officials to resolve issues within stipulated timelines. Additional teams are expected to be deployed to strengthen response systems and improve service efficiency during high-demand periods.

Strengthening Infrastructure and Maintenance
Highlighting the need for long-term reliability, Singh Deo emphasised the use of high-quality materials and equipment in maintenance and restoration works. He noted that preventing recurring faults is critical to maintaining consistent electricity supply, especially during extreme weather conditions.

Consumer-Centric Approach Emphasised
The Deputy Chief Minister called for a consumer-focused approach in service delivery, urging officials at all levels to maintain polite and proactive communication with electricity users. Enhancing public trust and responsiveness remains a key priority for the state government.

Safety Measures During Storm Season
Electrical safety was a major focus of the review. Singh Deo issued strict instructions regarding the installation of hoardings and billboards near power lines, particularly during Kalbaisakhi storms, which are known for strong winds. DISCOMs have been directed to coordinate with urban local bodies to ensure compliance with safety norms and prevent accidents.

Monitoring and Accountability Measures
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to 24×7 power supply, Singh Deo directed officials to remain on high alert throughout the summer months. The Energy Department and DISCOMs have been instructed to submit weekly compliance reports to monitor progress and ensure accountability in implementing the directives.
