Odisha’s power distribution companies held their 29th board meetings under the chairpersonship of Chief Secretary Anu Garg, IAS, at Lok Seva Bhavan on April 23.

The meetings reviewed the performance and operational efficiency of TPNODL, TPSODL, TPCODL, and TPWODL, focusing on reliable power supply, loss reduction, and consumer service delivery.

The Chief Secretary emphasised the need for safe and uninterrupted electricity supply, effective grievance redressal, and stronger customer outreach. She urged all DISCOMs to maintain quality and safety standards while expanding renewable energy adoption.

Odisha continues to lead in clean energy initiatives under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG-MBY) and the Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) Scheme. The state has achieved 84,888 rooftop solar installations, including 55,888 under PMSG-MBY and 29,000 under ULA, marking the highest adoption rate in India.

Authorities aim to bring three lakh households under rooftop solar coverage, scaling up to 25,000 installations per month. District Collectors in Cuttack and Ganjam have supported pilot projects in Matiakhal, Olaba, and Debabhuin villages, ensuring zero electricity bills for 280 households.

Odisha’s DISCOMs reported a sharp decline in aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses, from 29.5% in FY 2019–20 to 14.6% in FY 2025–26. TPNODL ranked second and TPCODL fourth nationally among non-urban utilities.

The companies spent Rs 17 crore under CSR in FY 2025–26 and plan Rs 20 crore for FY 2026–27, supporting mobile health dispensaries and vocational training centres to improve rural healthcare and employment.
