The CID Crime Branch of Odisha Police has arrested Prasanna Kumar Patro, a former Malkhana Clerk, in connection with a High Court forgery case and multiple bank fraud conspiracies.
Patro (DOB: April 11, 1960), son of Late Chaitanya Patro of Jeypore, Koraput, was apprehended from his rented house in Trisulia under Baranga Police Station, Cuttack. He faces charges under Sections 465, 467, and 471 IPC in CID Crime Branch P.S Case No. 06 dated March 22, 2018.
Investigators allege that Patro conspired with his daughter, Amrita Priyadarsini Patro, to forge an order of the Orissa High Court in W.P.(C) No. 9853/2017, seeking wrongful gain and shielding her from a bank fraud case. He is also implicated in EOW P.S Case No. 16 dated June 25, 2018, involving charges of criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery, and conspiracy.
A habitual offender, Patro has a history of forgery and misappropriation of government funds. He was previously convicted in Jeypore Town P.S Case No. 32/1993 under Section 409 IPC and sentenced to three years imprisonment.
The Crime Branch noted that Patro had forged court orders in past cases to evade legal action. Further investigation into his role in multiple fraud conspiracies is underway.
