Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed a criminal investigation into the widespread errors found in school textbooks from Class I to VIII, marking a decisive escalation in the state’s response to the controversy.
Acting on the findings of a committee earlier formed under the Development Commissioner, the CM instructed the SCERT Director to lodge an FIR with the Crime Branch SP to probe the entire process. The move comes after the committee report led to the suspension of the former SCERT Director and three Assistant Directors, with disciplinary action ordered against six others.
Majhi emphasised that the lapses in textbook preparation were serious enough to warrant criminal accountability, underscoring the government’s commitment to restoring trust in the education system. The investigation aims to identify those responsible and ensure corrective measures are enforced swiftly.
