In a vibrant display of patriotism and cultural heritage, the state-level flag lowering ceremony was held today at the OSAP 7th Battalion premises in Bhubaneswar.
The event, organised by the Odisha Police, brought together police personnel from across the state to honour national unity and discipline.
The ceremony was graced by Odisha’s Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, as the chief guest.
The program commenced with enthralling performances by band musicians from various districts and battalions of the Odisha Police. OSAP’s own musicians set the tone with captivating renditions on bugles, pipe bands, brass bands, and string bands, infusing the atmosphere with enthusiasm and energy.
The musical lineup included timeless patriotic tunes such as the ‘National Anthem’, ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Saare Jahan Se Achha’, ‘Odisha Mo Odisha’, ‘Fun Fare’, ‘Bharat Ki Jawan’, ‘Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja’, and more. These performances left the audience spellbound, evoking a strong sense of national fervour.
As the sun set, the national flag was lowered in a serene and picturesque setting, symbolising the end of the day’s solemn proceedings.
Following the flag lowering, the event featured dynamic cultural dances that showcased Odisha’s rich tribal and folk traditions. Jawans from the OSAP 3rd Battalion in Koraput performed the energetic ‘Dhemsha’ dance, while those from the OSAP 2nd Battalion in Jharsuguda, along with their families, presented the thrilling Khukri dance. The jawans of the 5th IRBN in Boudh captivated the crowd with a lively Sambalpuri dance, leaving spectators exhilarated.
Through this colorful festival, the Odisha Police demonstrated their unwavering commitment to patriotism, national integration, and maintaining law and order.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including State Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, Police Commissioner S. Dev Dutta Singh, Additional Director General of Police (Armed) Rajesh Kumar, Additional Police Commissioner Narasingh Bhol, and Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena. Several retired senior police officers and distinguished guests also joined the celebrations.
This ceremony not only reinforced the bonds of unity but also served as a reminder of the police force’s role in upholding the values of the nation.
