In a landmark push towards industrial growth, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today laid the foundation stone and inaugurated 36 new industrial projects worth Rs 40,811 crore at Bhuinpur near Begunia in Khordha district.
Of these, foundation stones were laid for 11 projects while 25 were formally inaugurated, marking a major milestone in the state’s second industrial revolution.
The projects span diverse sectors including green energy equipment, metals and downstream industries, textiles and apparel, plastics, tourism, agriculture and food processing, defence production, IT, automobiles, and cement. Once operational, they are expected to generate more than 59,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities across multiple districts.
Addressing a public gathering, CM Majhi declared that Odisha is no longer merely a “state of potential” but is now actively experiencing the touch of prosperity. “This is a new and significant chapter in the golden journey of ‘Samruddha Odisha’,” he said. He highlighted that in the last 18–20 months alone, the government has laid foundations and inaugurated 109 projects worth nearly Rs 2.5 lakh crore, creating 1,76,000 jobs. Today’s Rs 40,811 crore investment adds further momentum.
The Chief Minister also held a roundtable meeting with leading industrialists from across India and assured them of all necessary facilities — land, power, water, connectivity, and timely approvals. “Any issue can be directly taken up with the Chief Minister’s Office for immediate resolution,” he promised. He urged investors to expand existing units in Odisha and contribute to building a self-reliant ‘Samriddha Odisha’ that will stand tall on the global stage by 2036.
Union Budget provisions of over Rs 72,000 crore (approximately 6.5% of the state’s GDP) for infrastructure were also cited as a key enabler for accelerated development.
Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain described the event as a clear reflection of the government’s commitment to creating a diversified, stable, and future-ready industrial ecosystem.
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, Khordha MLA Prashant Jagdev, Begunia MLA Pradeep Kumar Sahu, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Adani Ports & SEZ Managing Director Karan Adani, and senior officials were present on the occasion.
After the function, the Chief Minister visited the project exhibition stalls and interacted with company representatives and workers.
