In a significant welfare move, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday approved an increase in the Duty Call-up Allowance (DCA) for Home Guards from Rs 639 to Rs 650 per day.
The revised allowance will come into effect retrospectively from January 1, 2026.
The decision aims to provide better financial support to the Home Guards who play a crucial role in assisting the police in maintaining law and order, disaster management, and various security duties across the state.
This is the second hike in less than a year. On July 1, 2025, the daily allowance was raised from Rs 623 to Rs 639. The latest revision comes in the wake of the state government’s announcement of a 2% additional Dearness Allowance (DA) for regular government employees, also effective from January 1, 2026.
Officials said the Chief Minister took the decision to ensure parity and acknowledge the services rendered by the Home Guards.
