In a move aimed at honouring and supporting the state’s traditional artists, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a significant increase in the monthly allowance under the Mukhyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Yojana.

The declaration was made today at the 48th State-level Pala Sammilani held at Park Lane in Keonjhar, bringing cheers to thousands of artists and their families as the year 2025 draws to a close.

The enhanced allowances are designed to protect and promote Odia cultural identity, with the Chief Minister emphasising the vital role artists play in preserving the state’s heritage. “This increase is a tribute to the dedication of our artists who safeguard and propagate our rich traditions,” said Majhi during the event.

Under the revised scheme:

  •  Artists aged between 40 and 80 years will now receive Rs 3,000 per month, up from the previous Rs 2,000.
  •  Those above 80 years will get Rs 3,500 monthly, an increase from Rs 2,500.

This initiative is expected to benefit 47,704 artists across Odisha, providing much-needed financial relief and recognition to performers in traditional arts like Pala and other cultural forms.

The announcement has sparked widespread joy among the artistic community, fostering an atmosphere of celebration and renewed enthusiasm for cultural preservation.

The Pala Sammilani, a prestigious gathering of artists, served as the perfect backdrop for this welfare measure, highlighting the government’s commitment to cultural and artistic development in the state.
