Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 7,000 crore in Motihari, Bihar, signalling a new era of growth for India’s eastern states.
The event, held during the sacred month of Sawan, began with PM Modi offering prayers at Baba Someshwarnath and expressing his wish for prosperity across Bihar.
“This is the land of Champaran, which gave Mahatma Gandhi a new direction. Today, it will shape Bihar’s future,” said PM Modi, addressing a large gathering.
🚆 Rail Infrastructure:
- Doubling of the Darbhanga-Narkatiaganj rail line worth Rs 4,080 crore.
- Vande Bharat train maintenance facility at Patliputra.
- Automatic signalling and traction upgrades on the Bhatni-Chhapra Gramin section.
🛣️ Road Connectivity:
- Foundation stone for the 4-laning of the Ara bypass (NH-319).
- Inauguration of Parariya-Mohania section of NH-319 worth ₹820 crore.
- Sarwan-Chakai road (NH-333C) to connect Bihar and Jharkhand.
💻 IT & Startup Ecosystem:
- STPI facility inaugurated in Darbhanga.
- Incubation centre launched in Patna to promote IT/ITES/ESDM industries and startups.
🐟 Fisheries Sector:
- Launch of modern fisheries infrastructure under PMMSY, including hatcheries, biofloc units, ornamental fish farming, and feed mills.
👩🌾 Women Empowerment:
- Rs 400 crore released as Community Investment Fund.
- Over 20 lakh women in Bihar have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’; 80,000 in Champaran alone.
- Praise for the “Jeevika Didi” initiative by CM Nitish Kumar.
🏠 Housing for All:
- Griha Pravesh for 12,000 beneficiaries.
- Rs 160 crore released to 40,000 beneficiaries under PM Awas Yojana-Gramin.
