On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the groundbreaking New Pamban Rail Bridge, India’s first vertical lift sea bridge.
This state-of-the-art engineering marvel connects Rameswaram to the mainland and has been built at a cost of over Rs 550 crore.
Stretching 2.08 kilometers, the bridge features 99 spans, including a 72.5-meter vertical lift span designed to allow ships to pass unhindered. Constructed using advanced materials and protective coatings, the bridge is tailored to withstand harsh marine conditions, ensuring long-term durability.
Located near the culturally significant Dhanushkodi, traditionally believed to be the starting point of the Ram Setu, the New Pamban Rail Bridge holds immense spiritual and historical importance. The inauguration will also include the launch of new infrastructure projects worth over ₹8,300 crore, enhancing connectivity and economic activity in Tamil Nadu.
Prime Minister Modi will also visit the renowned Ramanathaswamy Temple, further emphasizing the cultural and spiritual significance of this monumental occasion.
