In a strong push for a flawless, inclusive, and updated voter list, Odisha’s Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan today chaired a crucial high-level meeting with representatives of all recognised political parties at the state headquarters.

The meeting reviewed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls and the massive digitisation drive across the state. The core message from the CEO was clear: every eligible voter must find their name in the final electoral roll.

Key Outcomes

Detailed discussions were held on the current progress of the revision exercise. Strategies were finalised for the timely publication of the Draft Electoral Roll on July 5, 2026, followed by the claims and objections phase.

To strengthen grassroots-level coordination, it was decided that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of all political parties will hold special coordination meetings on June 24 and 25.

The CEO stressed that maximum participation at the booth level is essential to ensure accuracy and prevent any eligible voter from being left out.

How Voters Can Participate

The Draft Electoral Roll, once published on July 5, will remain open for claims and objections until August 4, 2026. Citizens can take the following actions:

  • Form 6: Add new names (new voters)
  • Form 7: Request deletion of names
  • Form 8: Make corrections or modifications in existing entries

Progress So Far

As of today, enumeration forms have been distributed to 99.91% of voters — covering 3,33,69,627 people across Odisha. Out of these, 90.86% of the data — amounting to 3,34,06,729 records — has already been digitised.

Senior officials present at the meeting included Additional CEO Sushant Kumar Mishra, Joint CEO Gopinath Kumar, Deputy CEOs Dr. Laxmi Prasad Sahu and Anamika Singh, along with representatives from all recognised political parties.

This collaborative approach between the Election Department and political parties is expected to result in one of the most accurate and inclusive electoral rolls in recent years.
