Odisha government is set to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17 with an array of ambitious programs aimed at public welfare and environmental sustainability.

The celebrations will feature a record-breaking initiative to plant 75 lakh trees across the state in a single day, alongside the launch of the “Healthy Women, Empowered Families” campaign and the commemoration of the Subhadra Yojana’s anniversary.

In a massive push for environmental conservation, the state has set a target to plant 75 lakh saplings on Wednesday as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, which has evolved into a people’s movement since its inception last year. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasised the importance of trees as vital to life, companionship, and prosperity, urging citizens to contribute to a greener and healthier Odisha for future generations.

The “Healthy Women, Empowered Families” initiative, launching on September 17, aims to create a digital database of women’s health in Odisha and conduct screenings for diseases like breast cancer, cervical cancer, oral cancer, menstrual issues, and malnutrition. Running until October 2, the campaign will include 29,000 screening camps and over 3,000 health camps, targeting over 2 crore women. Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling announced that the data collected will facilitate tracking and follow-up care. Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate this initiative from Madhya Pradesh, while Odisha’s state-level program will see participation from the Chief Minister and Governor.

The Subhadra Yojana, a flagship scheme of the BJP government, will also celebrate its anniversary on this day. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida highlighted that 338 Child Development Project Offices will host “Dhanyavaad Modi” events to acknowledge the success of the Prime Minister’s welfare schemes. Additionally, the state will observe Awas Diwas, with housing fairs organised in every district and urban local body until October 31. These fairs, part of the Angikaar-2025 campaign, will promote the completion of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U), facilitate home loans, and raise awareness about interest subsidies and other government schemes like PM Suryaghar and Ayushman Bharat.

Ministers, district collectors, block chairpersons, sarpanches, and anganwadi workers will participate in these district-level programs, ensuring widespread community engagement. The state government’s efforts reflect a commitment to health, housing, and environmental goals, aligning with national priorities under PM Modi’s leadership.
