Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Monday took several important decisions relating to the departments of Water Resources, Industries, Commerce and Transport, General Administration and Public Grievance, and Home.
These major decisions include:
- Rules to regulate the method of recruitment and service conditions of the persons appointed in the Odisha nursing college education service
- Command area development and water management activities in irrigated commands
- Utilization of groundwater resources through deep bore wells with solar pump system in remote areas of the State under Biju Krushak Vikash Yojana Deep Borewell Secha Yojana
- Approval of tender for construction of sports infrastructure facilities in Kalinga Stadium Bhubaneswar and Construction of new international hockey stadium at Rourkela for Hockey World cup
- Amendment of the list in para-16 of IPR, 2015 for the addition of manufacturing/refilling of medical oxygen/ container
- Amendment of Odisha transport- traffic and enforcement rules, 2013
- Change of the nomenclature of ” Forest and Environment department” as ” Forest Environment and Climate Change department”
- Amendment of Odisha ex-servicemen ( recruitment to State civil services and posts) Rules
- Annual activity report of Odisha Public Service Commission for the year 2017-18;
- Framing of the Rules for accommodation and other services in Bhawans outside the State-owned and maintained by the Home Department Government of Odisha.
The Odisha Cabinet held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today has also taken important decisions for Covid management and containing the spread of the pandemic in the State.
Briefing the press after the meeting, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra said, “Cabinet has sincerely appreciated the hard work and sacrifices of the Covid warriors across the State”.
The cabinet has also expressed its “heartfelt gratitude to the people of Odisha for their continued cooperation in the fight against Covid”.
Cabinet has noted that vaccination is the key to reducing the severity of the pandemic and protecting the people from the present and future waves of Covid infection. As such cabinet decided that State Government will make all-out efforts for procuring the vaccine from international companies through a global tender. A technical committee will work out the details for such procurement.

The cabinet has also urged the Government of India for exempting vaccines from tax liabilities.
Cabinet has reiterated its determination to fight against the killer disease and has appealed the people to adopt covid appropriate practices like wearing of masks, frequent hand washing, maintaining social distance, staying at home and avoid going outside unless very urgently required.
