The State Transport Authority (STA) of Odisha has enforced a ban on commercial vehicles older than 10 years registered in other states.
The directive, finalised during the 301st STA meeting on July 19, 2023, is now being implemented across the state.
All Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) have been instructed to ensure strict compliance. Vehicles exceeding the 10-year age limit and registered outside Odisha will no longer be allowed to operate within the state. Authorities have also been directed not to issue new permits or process ownership transfers, address changes, or transport tax payments for such vehicles.
The measure seeks to phase out unfit vehicles, reduce emissions, and improve road safety standards. Officials believe the ban will help curb pollution caused by ageing commercial fleets and promote cleaner, safer transport across Odisha.
