Bhubaneswar: The stalemate continued in Odisha Assembly on Monday as BJP, Congress and BJD legislators disrupt proceedings over different issues.
The Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro adjourned the House several times and even during Zero Hour as the furore continued.
The activities of the second phase Budget Session is yet to be normal since its beginning. Members from the Treasury Benches and BJP and BJD trooped into the well of the House and started sloganeering on Mandi and abortive suicide bid of BJP MLA Subash Panigrahi inside the Assembly.
While Congress MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati demonstrated a placard on the irregularities in paddy procurement, Government Chief Whip Pramila Mallik urged BJP MLA Subas Panigrahi to tender apologies for making an abortive bid to commit suicide inside the Assembly.
Mallik said they will disrupt proceedings of the House till Panigrahi apologizes. Bahinipati wanted to know what role the BJP, BJD and the Centre has in connection with paddy procurement. He said the Chief Minister tours Puri, Nuapada and Sundergarh without being scared of coronavirus, but he apprehends that he will get infection inside House. Ministers of the present dispensation prefer to eat fast food (Bara) at Nuapada but they do not attend Odisha Assembly session fearing infection.
The Leader of the Opposition Pradipta Nayak said the government is playing politics with the basic issues of the people.
