The Odisha Assembly remained adjourned till 4 pm today following continuous protests by opposition parties over the SCB Medical College and Hospital fire incident that claimed 12 lives.
Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House multiple times due to disruptions. The opposition, led by Congress and BJD members, staged protests demanding the resignation of Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, alleging negligence in handling the tragedy.
The Speaker first adjourned proceedings till 11:30 am, then till 12:30 pm, and finally till 4 pm as protests continued. Opposition members have been raising the issue since March 17, pressing for accountability and stronger safety measures in hospitals.
