The nomination withdrawal process for the upcoming Nuapada by-election has officially concluded, confirming a final list of 14 candidates who will contest the seat.
With the administrative formalities now complete, the electoral battle is set to intensify in the coming days.
The contesting candidates include BJP’s Jay Dholakia, BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria, Congress’s Ghasiram Majhi, Samajwadi Party’s Ramakanta Hati, Bahujan Mukti Party’s Hemant Tandi, and Odisha Janata Dal’s Shukadhar Dandsena, along with eight Independent candidates — Ashraya Mahandan, Er. Chakranta Jena, Bhuvan Lal Sahu, Kishore Kumar Bag. Nita Bag, Lakshmikant Tandi, Bhaktabandhu Dharua, and Lochan Majhi.
It is noted that five nomination papers were rejected during the scrutiny process. The rejected candidates are Rajaram Sahu of BSP, Sitaram Behera of Rastriya Paribartan Dal, and three Independent candidates — Kamal Kumar Chhatria, Purushottam Behera, and Bhujabal Adabangu.
The entire election process is scheduled to be completed by Sunday, November 16, 2025.
