Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, will inaugurate the 84th Indian Roads Congress (IRC) at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar.
The event will run from November 7 to 10, 2025. Odisha Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan confirmed the development on Thursday.
This marks the sixth time Odisha will host the prestigious IRC session. The four-day congress will welcome more than 2,000 IRC representatives and around 3,500 engineers and chief engineers from across India. Additionally, VVIPs, senior officials, and top experts from the road and transport sector will participate in the event.
Gadkari, who regularly inaugurates IRC sessions, will address the delegates and outline the central government’s initiatives in road development, safety, and technological innovation. His presence will reaffirm the government’s commitment to infrastructure as a key driver of economic growth.
“This is a significant opportunity for Odisha to showcase its commitment to infrastructure development. We expect Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and other dignitaries to join us, as per the program details,” Harichandan stated.
Moreover, the congress will feature discussions on innovative strategies to strengthen India’s road and transport systems. Academicians from IIT Bhubaneswar and NIT Rourkela will present case studies highlighting successful projects and advancements in road safety.
As preparations gain momentum, Odisha is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of India’s transport infrastructure.
