The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has held KIIT university authorities accountable for negligence in connection with the tragic death of a Nepalese student, stating that their inaction may have contributed to the incident.
Following an investigation, the NHRC found that the institution failed to handle the situation with the seriousness it deserved. Criticizing the administration’s response, the commission emphasized that the tragedy could have been prevented with proper measures in place.
In light of its findings, the NHRC has directed the Chief Secretary to submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) within four weeks, outlining the steps taken regarding the case.
The incident has raised concerns about student safety and institutional accountability, with calls for stricter regulations and oversight in university campuses. The NHRC’s directive underscores the need for authorities to address such lapses to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
