Residents of Bhubaneswar’s Patia area rescued a newborn boy from an auto parked near Shubham Apartment on March 31, 2026.
The infant was found abandoned inside the vehicle.
Locals heard the baby crying and immediately alerted the police. A PCR team reached the spot and rescued the child. The baby appeared to be around one to two months old.
Witnesses expressed shock after discovering the infant inside the auto. The auto driver also arrived at the scene and claimed he had no knowledge of how the child ended up in his vehicle.
Police shifted the newborn to Kolathia Sishu Seva Sadan for medical care. Doctors began health examinations and ensured proper attention for the child.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the abandonment. The incident has raised concerns about child safety and abandonment cases in urban areas.
