Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra has officially qualified for the Diamond League 2025 Final in Zurich, Switzerland, scheduled for August 27-28.
Despite skipping the recent Diamond League leg in Silesia, Poland (August 16), and uncertainty about his participation in the Brussels meet (August 22), Chopra’s position in the standings remains strong enough to guarantee his place in the finale.
According to the latest rankings, the reigning world champion and two-time Olympic medallist has collected 15 points from two outings — one victory in Paris and a runner-up finish in Doha. He currently sits third in the standings, behind Keshorn Walcott (17 points) and Julian Weber (15 points). The top six after Brussels will advance to the Zurich final.
Chopra’s last competitive appearance was at the NC Classic in Bengaluru on July 5, where he registered 86.18m to claim the title. Earlier this season, he breached the 90m mark for the first time with a throw of 90.23m in Doha, finishing second, before clinching the Paris Diamond League title with 88.16m.
The 27-year-old will now shift focus to defending his crown at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo (September 13-21).
