The nine-day festival of Navratri, celebrating the divine energy of Goddess Durga, entered its second day on September 23, 2025. Devotees across India worship Maa Brahmacharini on this day, seeking her blessings for wisdom, devotion, and spiritual strength.

Who is Maa Brahmacharini?

Maa Brahmacharini is the second form of Goddess Durga, symbolising austerity, devotion, and inner strength. She is depicted as a barefoot goddess holding a Jap Mala in her right hand and a Kamandal in her left, representing penance and spiritual practice.

According to Hindu scriptures, she is the ascetic form of Goddess Parvati who performed intense penance to win Lord Shiva as her consort. She endured years of fasting and meditation, ultimately giving up food and water to please Lord Shiva. Her perseverance earned her the name Aparna.

Worshipping Maa Brahmacharini is believed to remove obstacles, instill patience and self-control, and guide devotees toward spiritual growth.

Auspicious Timings for Day 2

As per Drik Panchang, these are the auspicious timings for Day 2 of Navratri:

  • Brahma Muhurta: 04:35 am – 05:22 am

  • Pratah Sandhya: 04:59 am – 06:10 am

  • Abhijit Muhurta: 11:49 am – 12:37 pm

  • Vijaya Muhurta: 02:14 pm – 03:03 pm

  • Godhuli Muhurta: 06:16 pm – 06:40 pm

  • Sayahna Sandhya: 06:16 pm – 07:28 pm

  • Amrit Kalam: 07:06 am – 08:51 am

  • Nishita Muhurta: 11:50 pm – 12:37 am (Sept 24)

  • Dwi Pushkara Yoga: 01:40 pm – 04:51 am (Sept 24)

Navratri Day 2 Colour

The auspicious colour for the second day of Navratri is red. Devotees are encouraged to wear red clothes and offer a red chunri to the Goddess. Red symbolises passion, courage, and love, inviting positive energy and blessings into one’s life.

Puja Vidhi for Maa Brahmacharini

To perform the puja, devotees can follow these steps:

  1. Preparation: Clean the puja space thoroughly and arrange all necessary samagri.

  2. Kalash Sthapana: Place a Kalash filled with water, betel leaves, and supari. Cover with mango leaves and a coconut, then sprinkle Ganga Jal.
