Police reached the Bhubaneswar residence of Narla MLA Manorama Mohanty on Sunday in connection with a case against her husband, Durga Prasad Mohanty.
Narla Tehsildar Bibhu Prasad Singh filed a complaint against Durga Prasad Mohanty, who serves as Narla Block Chairman. Singh alleged that Mohanty issued death threats to him. Acting on the written complaint, police registered a case at Narla police station on March 15.
Investigators began probing the matter soon after the complaint. A police team visited the MLA’s official residence in Bhubaneswar to continue the inquiry. Officers confirmed that the investigation remains active, but they did not disclose further details.
Neither Manorama Mohanty nor Durga Prasad Mohanty has issued any statement regarding the allegations. The silence from the MLA and her husband has drawn attention, as the case involves both political and administrative figures in Narla.
Police sources indicated that the investigation will proceed with witness statements and evidence collection. The case has already stirred discussions in political circles, given the involvement of an elected representative’s family.
Authorities emphasised that the probe will continue until all aspects of the complaint are examined. The outcome of the investigation may carry significant implications for local governance in Narla.
