Police recovered the body of a 25‑year‑old youth from a locked rented house near St. Joseph School at Church Square in Bonai town in Sundargarh district on Wednesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Jatin Manihira, son of Lokanath Manihira of Gilli Boneikala village.

Jatin had been staying alone in Bonai for coaching purposes. On Wednesday evening, his friends and neighbours grew suspicious when the door of his room remained locked for hours. They alerted the police, who arrived at the spot along with a magistrate. When officers broke open the door, they found Jatin lying dead inside.

Today, police conducted a post‑mortem examination at the sub‑divisional hospital and handed over the body to his family. Meanwhile, police registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation.

Officials stated that further details will be known once the post‑mortem report is available.
