A young female constable, Jashoda Das, was found dead in her police barracks under mysterious circumstances. The 2023 batch recruit was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan late last night.
While the police suspect personal reasons, her family hints at a possible strained relationship with fellow constable Balaram Das.
In a press conference, Balasore Superintendent of Police (SP), Raj Prasad stated, “The constable was pronounced dead at the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital. According to her posting status, she had been experiencing mental distress. A personal issue might have led to this extreme step. However, the exact reason behind the suicide remains unclear. Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding Das’ death.”
The case has stirred discussions on stress in police forces and the need for mental health awareness among officers. Officials ensure a fair investigation to uncover the truth behind the incident.
As per latest reports, preliminary investigations have begun, with scientific teams collecting evidence, and police registering an unnatural death case. Authorities await the autopsy report, expected to provide crucial insights. Meanwhile, concerns around workplace mental health and personal conflicts in law enforcement continue to rise.
